J'ai un peu la flemme de le traduire mais en gros ça sent pas bon du tout... :
Good news everybody, teentoday.co.uk favourites The Saturdays are BACK. What do you mean they didn’t go away? Play along now people… the Rainbow Clan return with Missing You from new album-type thing Headlines - the question is, is it any good?
In a word - no. Missing You is a washed out electro number, an ode to losing the passion (for arguing—over losing the passion) from a relationship. Yes, my head’s hurting too. Let’s spell it out… over a trance-y, synyth-y backdrop the girls mourn that they’re ‘missing, missing you’. I miss watching you as you try / Try not to end up in tears / Begging to get back together. Still confused? Us too.
We wanted Missing You to be a pitch perfect pop release that laid to rest all the drama surrounding the group, was bigger than the whole Wordshaker fiasco and ticked all the boxes on teentoday.co.uk’s Major Popstar Comeback to-do list. We wanted it to open them back up to music buyers outside of their core base (girls that would buy a 4 hour mixtape of Frankie’s missed live notes) and help them reclaim their home at near the top of the charts. It needed to sound big, with obnoxious production, great vocals and an actual melody. More importantly it needed to be FUN not SEXY. Instead it’s a quite-pretty but ultimately limp and lacklustre effort that trades a melody for a random ‘miss, missing you’ refrain, some terrible autotone that undoubtedly would see Frankie have a major Popstar Meltdown - *if* she was interesting enough, and a trance-y backdrop that never quite reaches the places it promises. To say that not even Una’s amazingness can save the song, speaks of its (lack of) quality.
And the video? The girls hit the beach and various nearby locations (field, tree, some rocks) to make glazed over doe-eyed expressions before hitting the club that night. There’s really only two things of merit in the whole thing and sadly not for positive reasons. Firstly, ANYONE GOT THE TIME is one thing you won’t be asking after watching it, for sure. And then, there’s *that* dance routine. We’re not going to spoil it for you, just watch yourself. Sadly it falls short of being so bad it’s good and is just depressingly terrible and low budget. Although we’re sure the girls had fun working on their tans.
The reality is the Saturdays have the potential to be a very successful girl group and capitalise on the space on the pop landscape now vacated by Girls Can’t Catch, Dolly Rockers, Girls Aloud, and everyone else we’ve ever loved - if they can pull it together. However, they and their team, need to raise their game in terms of performance, videos, production, promotion *and* music everything if they want to appeal to both the people that are either jaded by them as an act (their fans and followers) AND those that just know them from the spotted page of heat and quite like Frankie’s bob.
And that’s Missing You. In many ways it’s the perfect song, for its sentiment perfectly describes how we feel about the girls. Many months ago we actually enjoyed analysing the highs and lows of the girls’ careers, almost praying they’d deliver pop moments that would cement them as a musical force to be reckoned with and cast our doubts aside, now we just want them fast tracked to the dumper so someone else can be given a shot. WE miss, missing you THE SATS WOT WE ONCE LOVED.
VERDICT: QUIT.
